PSC Announces Permanent & Pensionable Jobs for KCSE D Students; How to Apply

Kenyans who scored a mean Grade D (plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) now have a chance to secure permanent and pensionable jobs in the government.

The Public Service Commission (PSC), on Tuesday, May 31, shared a notice detailing that it was seeking 61 drivers in the State Department for Social Services - under the Ministry of Public Service.

Salaries for the job gravitate between Ksh15,670 and Ksh17,570 monthly depending with one's job group.

All interested candidates are expected to possess a valid driving license to operate vehicles that are permissible to a government official.

They should also have attended a First-aid Certificate course at St John's Ambulance or Kenya Institute Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) for a period of one week.

Other requirements include passing a driver grade III test, pass a practical driver test by the Ministry, possess a certificate of good conduct and have a minimum of two years experience.

How to Apply

Interested candidates are advised to fill out a form on the Ministry's website, Socialprotection.go.ke/jobs, indicating their qualifications which include academic as well as professional achievements.

The Ministry cautioned that only shortlisted candidates would be contacted by the end of the exercise.

All applications should be made via the portal by June 21, 2022, and no hard copies will be accepted during the recruitment exercise.

"Canvassing in any form will lead to automatic disqualification. Successful candidates will be deployed outside Nairobi county in sub-counties and counties where vacancies exist," reads the PSC statement in part.

Successful candidates will be expected to handle duties and responsibilities involving driving a motor vehicle as authorised as well as carrying out routine checks on the vehicle's cooling, oil, electrical and brake systems and tyre pressure.

They will also aid in detecting and reporting malfunctioning vehicle systems; maintaining of work tickets for vehicles assigned; ensuring security and safety for the vehicle on and off the road; ensuring the safety of the passengers and/or goods therein and maintaining the cleanliness of the vehicle.
