Kenya's tourism sector has continued to scale higher after three luxurious hotels were ranked among the most unique establishments worldwide.
The National Geographic, a globally respected magazine, named Eden Hotel along Lang'ata Road, Sanctuary Tambarare in Ol Pejeta and the Safari Series in Lolldaiga Hills, Laikipia among the world's unique lodges that have something different to offer.
With the ranking, Kenya recorded the highest number of hotels on the list which also included establishments from Zambia, Botswana, Rwanda, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.
Eden Hotel, which is located in Lang'ata, was hailed for its bird-watching activities as well as contemporary art pieces since its relaunch.
"This upmarket suburban guesthouse in the Lang'ata suburb has a large, lush garden adjoining a 100-acre forest, making it the perfect place to acclimatise before a safari or wash off the dust at the end.
"Birders love it, as do art aficionados — created by fashion designer Anna Trzebinski, it’s packed with paintings, sculptures and ethnographic books," the review read in part.
The hotel was built by Trzebinski and her husband as their home but was converted into a luxury establishment in 2021.
Sanctuary Tambarare, which was scheduled to be launched in June 2022, was hailed for its focus on keeping its visitors physically fit.
Its service offerings include wildlife-watching in rhino-rich Laikipia, it offers cycling, horse riding, rock climbing, bushwalks, 5-7km runs and one-hour coach-led workouts.
The Safari Series, on the other hand, focuses its offers to the youth with interesting guided walks and drives around Lolldaiga Hills private conservancy.
The lodge was founded by 'adventure-loving young Land Rover enthusiast Ed Hough and his wife Moon' and tours are done with vintage Series I and II Landies, upcycled as safari vehicles.
Other hotels featured are Chisa Busanga from Zambia, The Capanne Project in Rwanda and Sayari Camp in Tanzania among others.
