Patrick Njoroge Appointed as New Governor of Central Bank

Patrick Njoroge is the new Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya.

According to The Central Bank's website, Njoroge has been appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta after parliament approved him.

According to Business Daily, the president also appointed Jairus Mohammed Nyaoga as the chairman of the CBK Board of Directors and Ms Sheila M’Mbijjewe as the second deputy governor.

Dr. Njoroge who until his appointment had been working as an International Monetary Fund adviser  takes over from Njuguna Ndung’u.

During parliamentary vetting, Dr. Njoroge had put on the spot for the fact that he had no family or investments in Kenya.

The fact that he is not married had become the subject of debate especially on social media.

The presidential nominee was however approved.

Dr. Njoroge, Nyaoga and  M’Mbijjewe take office immediately as their four year term is recorded to have started on 19th of June.
