The ruling Jubilee Party has now alleged that there was rigging in 33 Mount Kenya constituencies.

In a statement dated Thursday, August 11, and signed by the party's Secretary General, Jeremiah Kioni, the party claimed that the 'Yellow Wave' by the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) was fake.

"For the record, let all and sundry know there was no "Yellow Wave" in the Mount Kenya region including other regions like Bungoma, Taita Taveta, Kisii. These claims are far from the truth. There was no infrasound of the so called wave, they say even dogs can smell a tsunami coming," Kioni stated.

"It is with great concern that the electoral process was highly compromised. We have learnt of massive subtle rigging scheme that took place in the 33 constituencies of Mount Kenya for the parliamentary elections."

The President Uhuru Kenyatta-led party further argued that it had received reports from its agents on "voter bribery, voter intimidation, displaying of UDA campaign materials within the precincts of polling centers, mishandling of Jubilee Party and Azimio party agents by the presiding officers by denying them access to the polling stations on time."

The party further alleged that its agents found the tamper-proof envelopes containing the seals and stamps unsealed.

"The voter turnout in the KIEMS kits did not tally with the number of used ballot paper counterfoils, lack of clarity on voter verification where the KIEMS kits failed. It is unbelievable that a candidate would lose in all polling stations, including where they vote," Kioni added.

The party added that it would make its next move public in the coming days.

By the time of publication, United Democratic Alliance (UDA), affiliated with Deputy President William Ruto, had not responded to Jubilee's accusations.

Kioni had earlier conceded defeat in the parliamentary seat. The Jubilee Secretary-General had been floored by George Gachagua of UDA in the Ndaragwa parliamentary race.

"To the people of Ndaragwa, it has been an honor to serve you as your Member of Parliament. I accept the results with honor and contentment. Congratulations Hon George Gachagua on your election.

"Much appreciation to my staff, the campaign team and the entire community of Ndaragwa. May the Almighty God bless the good people of Ndaragwa and may He enlarge their boundaries," Kioni stated.
