Veteran Radio Jambo presenter Fred Arocho denied reports of receiving financial favours and connections from former President Uhuru Kenyatta despite his twin brother serving the latter for over two decades.

Speaking on Tuesday, October 18, Arocho further explained his relationship with Uhuru was not cordial and close, unlike with his twin brother, Billy Arocho.

According to the renowned football commentator, the friendship between the former commander-in-chief of the armed forces and his brother dates back to 1991. Due to their closeness, Uhuru appointed Billy as his personal bodyguard.

"My brother knew Uhuru since 1991, and they have been close since. But I have never been close to Uhuru," Arocho remarked.

His Love for Cars and Side Hustles

Arocho revealed that he enjoyed driving expensive cars. He specifically pointed out his obsession with Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs), which he argued were ideal and perfect for families.

But to expand his sources of income, the radio presenter decided to invest in the online tax business.

"I have six uber cars, and the one I'm driving right now is my seventh ride," he stated.

His First Radio Job

Arocho also explained that his encounter with Carol Radul helped him get his first radio job and build a forte in football commentary.

The duo coincidentally met during a football match where he was protesting an officiating decision.

While pressuring the fourth official to review the decision, he caught Radul's attention, who then linked him to his first radio job. However, Arocho did not reveal the first station he was posted to.

"I was discovered by Caroll Radull. I was watching football, and then an incident occurred. The match official had erred in his officiating, so I protested the decision. After some time, the referee agreed with my decisions and decided to penalise a player."

"Radul stood up, and she inquired how I knew that was foul play. I comfortably explained to her. She took my contacts and informed me that I could fit in radio," Arocho told 2Mbili TV.

He joined radio with no prior experience or skills. But he honed his skills by learning and thus crafted his own niche in football commentary.

"I appreciated her offer to venture into radio. But let me admit, I joined the industry with no knowledge or skills," he added.

His Future in Radio

The famous Radio Jambo presenter made it clear that his next move would be informed by daily ratings determining the number of people listening to radio shows at a specific time.

"I have been in radio for 15 years but still don't want to stay till my ratings drop," Arocho stated.
