Govt Lists Areas to Benefit From 59 Affordable Housing Projects [LIST]

Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development listed 59 areas which set to benefit from President William Ruto's affordable housing projects.

According to a notice released on Friday, November 4, the pipeline projects will cover different parts of the country, starting from Nairobi, Machakos, Kiambu, and Uasin Gishu, among other areas.

To implement the projects, the government invited bidders to participate in the construction, financing and even selling off the units.

The government is expected to construct the Shauri Moyo B housing project in Nairobi county. The houses will sit on 15.7 acres of land.

Stoni Athi Waterfront City housing project in Machakos county was also proposed for construction on 132 acres of land.

In Uasin Gishu county, the government listed several affordable housing projects. They include the construction of the Eldoret Kapsuswa housing project, Eldoret Kipchoge Kapsuswa project, Eldoret Kidwa and Eldoret Bondeni housing projects.

Meru Mixed Use Development (MUD) Phase II was set to be undertaken on 2.5 acres of land, while the construction of associated infrastructure for the Maralal housing project in Samburu County will be undertaken on 1.5 acres piece of land.

The associated infrastructure construction will also occur in Narok, Mombasa, Kericho Kilifi and Kisumu counties.

Other areas listed include Nandi, Siaya, Kakamega, Turkana, Murang'a and Kiambu counties.

Law enforcement officers are also set to benefit from the housing projects. According to the notice, Kilimani Police Station, Kiganjo Campus, and West Park housing projects will all benefit cops.

Other proposed projects for the cops include the construction of associated infrastructure for the National Police Service Traffic Police headquarters housing project in Ruaraka, the construction of associated infrastructure for the Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU) housing project in Embakasi and the building of cop's SGB Uhuru Camp in Lang'ata.

Cops drawn from Eldoret, Nyandarua and Laikipia will also benefit from the projects.

"Tenderers who express interest will be required to submit with their tenders, a tender security in form of an on-demand guarantee from either a reputable Bank, a financial institution licensed by Central Bank of Kenya or an insurance company approved by Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA)," the ministry stated.
