"New route unlocked. Two BasiGo electric buses are now operating along the CBD - Buruburu- Civil Servants (CIVO) route.

"Thank you to OMA Sacco for being a pioneer in clean public transport in Nairobi," read the statement in part.

Earlier, BasiGo, in partnership with Super Metro, introduced electric bus services to five routes, including Kikuyu and Kitengela.

Other routes were Juja, Imara Daima and Ngong.

Additionally, the company revealed that Kenyans wishing to ride on electric buses could track them on their phone to monitor their location.

How to Track

To track the buses, one is required to visit BasiGo Live -  smartbus-locator(dot)basi-go(dot)com.

Select the specific bus they wish to travel in. The buses included in the list are the CitiHoppa bus, East Shuttle, Oma bus and Super Metro.

You will then be notified whether the bus is at the stage or en route.

In case the bus leaves the terminus, one can monitor the movements of the buses through the designated route.
