Members of Parliament on Wednesday, March 15, raised money to repatriate the body of a Kenyan woman who died in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The MPs who toured South Africa were touched by the story of the lady who passed away, leaving behind her son in the care of friends.

Reportedly, the deceased complained of stomach aches, and her son called for help, but unfortunately, the ambulance took longer to respond.

Following the demise, friends and Kenyans in the area cared for the young boy while planning to fly her body back.

Luckily the MPs, including Danson Mungatana(Tana River Senator), Majimbo Kalasinga (Kabuchai), and Rahan Mukami (Nyeri Woman Representative), were in Pan African Parliament, South Africa, and were willing to help.

Other MPs that contributed included Esther Passaris (Nairobi Woman Representative) and Margaret Kamar (ex-Uasin Gishu Senator).

"As members of the Pan African Parliament, we condole with the family of the deceased. May God rest her soul in peace," Mugatana stated.

The legislators were praised for their efforts in facilitating the funeral service of the deceased as well as the return of her son to Kirinyaga County.

Reportedly, the High Commission offered to facilitate other necessities to bring the deceased and her son back to Kenya.

Meanwhile, well-wishers urged Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and the county Woman Representative Njeri Maina to oversee smooth funeral plans and help the boy settle with his mother's family.

Cases of Kenyans dying abroad were recently reported from across the globe, including Australia, where a student drowned at Simmons Beach Macquarie fields.

The student died after being in Australia for three where she had travelled to further her education at the Australian Catholic University

Through a GoFundMe page, friends and family raised Ksh2.5 million (USD20,000) to aid in her funeral arrangement.
