Drama as Coffee Worth Sh3 Million is Stolen

Police are investigating an incident where unknown criminals raided a Coffee factory and made away with coffee worth Sh3 million.

The incident sparked outrage from the farmers affiliated to the factory’s society ­-Mathira North Coffee Society- prompting them to storm the factory today.

The angered farmers accused the management of negligence for not putting in place enough security measures to safeguard the high value produce.

According to the factory Chairman Francis Maina, a group of over thirty robbers raided the Kiamariga factory in Mathira, Nyeri county, at around 1am Monday as the guards were on patrol.

The guards are said to have attacked one of the guards before tying up the rest and herding them at a corner.

Police suspect the incident could have been an inside job, perpetrated by persons associeated with the factory.

Meanwhile, two of the guards are being held in police custody to assist in investigations
