Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino, the current MP for Embakasi East constituency is one of the youngest politicians in the country with promising prospects.
The lawmaker has consistently been ranked among the best-performing MPs in the country by various research firms including Infotrak.
After first cutting his teeth in university politics where he retained a firm grip on the leadership of the Student Organisation of Nairobi University (SONU), Babu set his sights on national politics and would later bag the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket for Embakasi East.
He successfully vied for the seat in 2017 and retained it in 2022 and since then, his political star has continued to shine.
So much is his continued rise that his name is constantly thrown around as one of the politicians from Luo Nyanza likely to succeed Raila Odinga once the opposition bigwig exits the scene.
He holds two degrees; in Actuarial Science and in Law, both from the University of Nairobi (UoN). He also has master's Degrees in the same fields acquired from UoN.
Babu has also used his extensive knowledge constructively; using his spare time to teach primary and secondary students through his widely watched online classes.
In November 2023, he was awarded the Honorary Doctorate Degree in Political Leadership from Weldios University in Benin Republic.
As an MP, he has proposed several laws to help students.
This includes; the Legal Education (Amendment) Bill 2023 which seeks to democratize the administration of legal education by allowing other institutions besides Kenya School of Law to offer the Advocates Training Programme.
