Esther Akoth, aka Akothee, is a singer and a businesswoman who is famous for her afro-beat songs.
The 37-year-old musician has used her Akothee Foundation to improve the livelihoods of the disadvantaged in the society after the Covid-19 pandemic struck the country.
Akothee was appointed as a member of the committee created by the Lake Region Economic Bloc that comprises 14 counties to mitigate against the effects of Covid-19.
The Lake Basin Economic bloc constitutes Kakamega, Kisumu, Bungoma, Homa Bay, Busia, Bomet, Siaya, Nyamira, Migori, Kisii and Vihiga counties.
The bloc was created in 2018 to drive the development agenda in the Western region.
Independently, the artist had at the beginning of July offered to help celebrities who were struggling as a result of the pandemic.
