When it comes to beauty and brains, Faith Odhiambo embodies both.
She first rose to prominence in 2023 after a historic victory in the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) elections, defeating all-male opponents to become the 51st President of LSK. This achievement made her the second woman in history to hold the position, following former Defence Cabinet Secretary Rachelle Omamo.
Odhiambo won the hearts of many Kenyans once again this year during the anti-Finance Bill 2024 protests. She worked tirelessly, spending sleepless nights advocating for the rights of protestors.
She spoke out against extrajudicial killings and dedicated herself to finding, freeing, and representing those who were abducted or arrested during the protests. Odhiambo also reminded rogue actors of their legal obligations, ensuring justice prevailed.
In July 2024, she made another historic decision by declining a presidential appointment to join the Public Debt Taskforce, a committee responsible for addressing issues related to public debt.
Odhiambo’s career trajectory is nothing short of remarkable. She began as a board member and secretary at the Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), ascended to Vice President of LSK, and now holds its top leadership position as President.
She is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb), United Kingdom.
In addition to her professional achievements, Odhiambo is a gifted multilingual communicator fluent in French, Italian, Arabic, English, Swahili, and her native Luo.
Her academic journey reflects her versatility and ambition. Starting in accounting, she later transitioned to law, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa and a Diploma from the Kenya School of Law (KSL). She also holds a Master’s degree in International Commercial Law from Kent University in the UK.
She is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Nairobi, focusing on competition law, consumer protection, banking and financial law, and telecommunications law.
