10 Killed Along Baringo-Samburu Border

10 people were reportedly killed on Thursday in a deadly attack along the Samburu-Baringo border.

The assault which is said to have been a retaliatory attack from a neighbouring community left scores others injured while hundreds of animals were stolen.

The bandits are said to have conducted simultaneous ambush attacks with reports indicating most of the injured were women and children.

Samburu County Police Commander Alfred Ageng’o confirmed the raid but failed to comment on the number of deaths.

“I cannot confirm those killed for now but more than four people were seriously injured and are recuperating at the Samburu County Referral Hospital," he stated.

Police officers in the area launched an immediate operation to pursue the bandits.

The volatile North Rift region has been experiencing similar attacks as communities in the region fight over water and pasture.

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers have since been deployed in the area to assist in flushing out and disarming attackers.
