Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has given land rate defaulters a 14-day ultimatum or risk seeing their properties auctioned.

In today's dailies, Sakaja published the names of the defaulters in a 72-page document contained on the county government's official website.

As of April 2024, a majority of the defaulters owed between Ksh50,000 and Ksh31 million in backdated rates.

The governor, as a result, offered the land owners a 100 per cent waiver to pay original land rates failure to which they will be subjected to penalties among other punishments.
