Tragedy struck on Friday morning as four individuals lost their lives in a bus accident at the Gof Chopa area along the Marsabit-Moyale Highway.
Eyewitnesses reported that the bus, travelling from Nairobi to Moyale, lost control and rolled along the highway.
In response to the accident, a swift rescue operation was initiated to assist those trapped inside the wreckage.
While confirming the incident, acting Marsabit County Commissioner David Saruni stated that the 5.30 am incident left several others nursing critical injuries.
Meanwhile, the deceased and the injured were taken to the Marsabit Country Referral Hospital.
In the widely circulated photos of the tragedy, the bus could be spotted leaning on one of its sides as rescuers attempted to pull passengers from the vehicle.
Police officers who had cordoned off the scene could be seen attempting to control the bulging crowd as residents rushed to witness the tragic incident.
Following the tragic incident, the officers launched Investigations to establish the root cause of the bus accident.
The incident comes barely a week after 10 people succumbed in a road accident after a trailer collided with an oncoming matatu in Mai Mahiu town, Naivasha.
The accident occurred after a truck allegedly lost control before ramming into an oncoming matatu which was full of passengers.
While confirming the incident, Naivasha OCPD Stephen Kirui noted several others had been injured and have since been rushed to the hospital.
According to reports, the casualties were heading to a family function when they met their untimely death.
