Worldcoin developer, Tools for Humanity, is expected to resume operations in the country after the Director of Public Prosecution Renson Ingonga ordered the closure of the company's case.

In a letter from Thomas Scott, the chief legal officer at Worldcoin, the company welcomed the decision by the DPP to close the case filed after the company was accused of violating the law.

"We will continue working with the government of Kenya and others and we hope to resume World ID registration across the country soon," he added.

Worldcoin was operating in Kenya last year before it was shut down by the government and investigations commenced.

After months of investigation, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in a letter dated June 14 has asked the company to consider business registration services in liaison with the Registrar of Business registry if it decides to continue operations in the country.

Additionally, in the letter signed by Hillary Mutai DCI asked the officials to consider proper licensing and coordination by the office of the Data Protection Commission (ODPC) and the Communication  Authority of Kenya.

Worldcoin should also ensure intensive vetting and legal contracting of all third-party vendors within the country.

Notably, Worldcoin was scanning Kenyans' eyes with an orb and in return giving them up to Ksh7,000. The company had set up different booths across Nairobi CBD leading to massive lines as Kenyans queued to get their eyes scanned.

However, concerns were raised about the protection of data reportedly collected from the Kenyans who participated in the exercise.

After the operation was shut down, investigations began to determine whether the international company had complied with the laws in Kenya.

Worldcoin co-founder and CEO Alex Blania was even in Kenya to respond to queries from the National Assembly Ad Hoc committee.
