A wanted man sought by the authorities for caning his son remains at large after evading an attempted arrest in Nakuru.
According to the police, the man fled his home in the early hours of Friday, June 21, before the arrest could be carried out.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported that the man became aware of his impending arrest after some Kenyans began sharing details of his location.
During his early morning escape, he also took his 8-year-old son with him.
The police indicated that the discovery was made when officers arrived at his home on Friday.
Consequently, the manhunt for the man Nakuru-based man was extended as police continued to seek information about his whereabouts.
According to the authorities, the 8-year-old boy could be in danger given the mistreatment that was witnessed in the viral video.
"The suspect's whereabouts are unknown, and the safety of the little boy may be at stake.
"We appeal to anyone who has information that could assist in rescuing the kid to share with us by reporting at any police station or call our #FichuakwaDCI hotline 0800 722 203," DCI stated.
Police launched a manhunt for the Nakuru father after his video went viral on Thursday, June 19.
In the video, the man was filmed caning the child with a belt. At one point, he even removed his son's clothes and continued the beating.
While the main cause of the incident is yet to be established, the man was heard questioning the 8-year-old about why he was not following the instructions given to him.
