The Law Society of Kenya through its President Faith Odhiambo has condemned a string of unlawful abductions that have been ongoing in the last few days as the protests opposing the Finance Bill 2024 gain momentum.

In a statement on Tuesday, LSK demanded that the National Police Service (NPS) and other investigative agencies must investigate these abductions of innocent Kenyans.

"It is inconceivable that law enforcement officers are the perpetrators of illegalities and we will unmask and take actions against these rogue criminal elements putting our police in ruin," she added.

Odhiambo further asked the police to unmask all those carrying out these daylight abductions and for them to be held accountable.

She emphasised that LSK will ensure justice is served and those abducted are freed in due time. Odhiambo gave the example of Billy Simani's abduction and release.

According to Odhiambo, the LSK was continuing the search with no assistance from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the National Police Service.

"To these rogue cops and their masters, you may flout and contravene the constitution but you cannot extinguish his resilient spirit, the law will catch up with you," she remarked.

On the rising cases of kidnapping, the lawyer argued that some rogue officers in plain clothes were targeting some young Kenyans who were part of the anti-Finance Bill 2024 protests.

She gave the example of the kidnapping of John Frank Githiaka alias Franje where CCTV footage shows men with heavy machinery storming his office in Kahawa Sukari and dragging him out.

"The high calibre weapons brandished by the abductors confirm that the string of abductions is perpetrated by very high level, clandestine operatives within the forces," she remarked.

As LSK continues to seek justice and the release of the victims, she has asked Kenyans to be vigilant and provide any information on the whereabouts of the victims.

Notably, other X users were abducted early this morning including Gabriel Oguda, Osama Otero, Drey Mwangi, Harriet, Worldsmith, TemperCR7 and Hilla254.
