Former Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale on Thursday commended President Ruto following his bold decision to overhaul his cabinet.

Taking to his X account, the former CS lauded the Head of State for the opportunity Ruto granted him to serve as the first Defence CS under the Kenya Kwanza regime.

“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency President William Ruto for entrusting me with the role of Cabinet Secretary for Defence in the first Kenya Kwanza Administration,” Duale stated.

According to Duale, he was deeply honoured and would forever be indebted to President Ruto and Kenyans for this opportunity to serve in such a capacity.

"As the Quran says, “But they plan, and Allah plans. And Allah is the best of planners” (Quran 8:30)" Duale quoted a verse from the Quran.

Duale's sentiments come barely an hour after President William Ruto dismissed all his cabinet secretaries, only saving Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi.

While holding a presser at State House in Nairobi, the Head of State announced the move was in line with the demands made by Kenyans during the recent anti-government protests.

He further noted he decided to dismiss all the CSs after a holistic appraisal of their role.

"Upon reflection and listening keenly to what the people of Kenya have said and after holistic appraisal of the performance of my Cabinet and its achievements and challenges," Ruto announced.

"I have decided to dismiss with immediate effect all the Cabinet Secretaries and the Attorney-General from the Cabinet of the Republic of Kenya except the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs," he added.

According to Ruto, the operations of government would continue uninterrupted under the guidance of Principal Secretaries and other relevant officials.

"I will be announcing additional measures in due course," Ruto stated.
