On Friday, August 16, the police were allowed 7 extra days to detain Collins and two others linked to the Kware killings.

Makadara Principal Magistrate Irine Gichobi had granted the prosecution team orders to detain the three for 21 days pending completion of investigations.

It is alleged Collins Jumaisi murdered his wife as his first victim before disposing of her body in the Kware pit which is barely 100 metres away from his house.

In this incident which happened in 2022, Collins strangled his wife to death over a domestic dispute.

Earlier after his arrest, Collins admitted to have committed the murders of 42 people, whose bodies were found in Kware pit, Mukuru slums which he later denied saying he was coerced to make the admissions.

All the victims were killed and their bodies wrapped and disposed of in a similar manner.

It is believed all the victims were murdered between 2022 and July 11, 2024.

A search at his house led the police to discover a machete which Collins admitted to have used to dismember the bodies before disposing of them. Other personal gadgets including sim cards which are believed to belong to his victims were also discovered.

Jumaisi is suspected of being a serial killer. His escape sparked fear and raised many questions among observers.
