Ousted Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Sunday fired a subliminal at President William Ruto warning him that the Mt Kenya region, where he comes from, will not forget how the impeachment against him was plotted.

Gachagua who spoke on Sunday, October 27 at a church service at Saint James ACK Cathedral in Kiambu County, was adamant he would open up on everything that transpired when the time was right.

"We forgive but we don't forget. I've heard people saying that 3 years is a lot of time that by 2027, people will have forgotten. Even the atrocities meted on us by the white man, the pain we suffered under President Moi, we still remember. When the time is right, we will address the issue at hand. But at the moment, we will keep quiet," he stated

The ousted Deputy President, despite the strong message appeared much calmer after three weeks of intense battles with the National Assembly, the Senate, and now at the High Court.

Gachagua faulted several aspects of the State of the Nation while asking Kenyans to pray for the Head of State who he stated has a tough task on his hands.

"I want to ask Kenyans to pray for President Ruto to give him wisdom to navigate the challenges affecting Kenyans," Gachagua stated.

The ousted DP proceeded to name a number of key sectors in the country which Kenyans have been critical of in the last few weeks as he called on the President to correct them.

"Our people are feeling helpless because of economic adversities, over-taxation, failing health systems and the President has a big job to do. We pray for God to give him wisdom so the people of Kenya can get some relief when they go about their business."

Gachagua was accompanied by a number of his allies during the church service, including his staunch supporter Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Thang'wa.

Gachagua's political future is hanging by a thread, with his only hopes of salvaging the Deputy Presidency lying with the case which is currently in the High Court.

In one of the latest blows Gachagua was dealt, a three-judge bench comprising Freda Mugambi, Eric Ogola and Anthony Mrima refused to recuse themselves from hearing the impeachment case.

Ruto's take: The President has been extremely coy about the woes surrounding Gachagua, leaving Kenyans to wonder what his next course of action will be.

in one of his recent public addresses on Friday, October 25, however, President Ruto appeared to hint at why he fell out with Gachagua as he sent out a fiery message condemning what he termed as 'divisive politics'.

“We don't have any business with leaders dividing Kenyans based on ethnic lines. I formed a government to unite all Kenyans. Was that a mistake? There are people who are angry because I appointed Beatrice Askul as a CS." he said while referring to East African Community (EAC) and ASAL Areas Cabinet Secretary Beatrice Askul.
