Kenya Met Lists Nairobi & Mombasa Among Regions to Receive Rains Over Next 7 Days

The Kenya Meteorological Department has urged Kenyans living in different parts of the country to prepare for moderate to heavy rainfall over the next seven days from October 29 to November 4.

The weather department in its weekly advisory published on Tuesday, October 29, announced that rainfall was expected to in the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Coast, and North Eastern Kenya.

Kenyans living in the counties of Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu and Elgeyo-Marakwet were cautioned to brace for heavy rainfall that would commence in the afternoon and extend to the night.

According to Kenya Met, the rains would also occur in Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot counties and would be accompanied by thunderstorms.

In its announcement, the meteorological department announced that moderate rains were expected in the counties of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nairobi.

The above counties were forecasted experience light rains, particularly in the afternoon and extend into the night after a partly cloudy morning.

Kenyans residing in the Coastal counties of Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties as well as coastal parts of Tana River County were also informed to prepare for light rains from mid-morning.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country was expected to remain dry with sunny weather patterns projected in the counties of Kitui, Makueni, Machakos and Kajiado.

Temperature Advisory

Meanwhile, Kenya Met in its weekly advisory cautioned residents living in the counties of  Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nairobi to prepare for very cold nights of up to 10°C.

“Night time temps may drop below 10°C in parts of the Central Highlands and Central Rift Valley, so prepare for cooler nights,” Kenya Met announced.

Additionally, residents living in Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet were cautioned to brace for high daytime temperatures of up to 30°C.

Other counties that were cautioned to prepare for hot days include Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, Isiolo, Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale.
