Detectives have made yet another step in investigating the gruesome killing of Wells Fargo HR Manager Willis Ayieko after they discovered the house where he was tortured on Thursday, November 7.
In a statement seen by Kenyans.co.ke, police confirmed the arrest of another suspect in the murder, who was smoked out of his hideout in Bondo Sub-County.
A scene re-enactment with one of the previously arrested suspects led detectives to the suspect's house in Luanda Doho, Kisa East, Kakamega County, where Ayieko is believed to have been tortured and killed.
The victim's body was discovered less than 400 meters from the said house.
Earlier this week, another suspect, a bodaboda rider, was arrested in Kisumu. Police believe he played a part in ferrying the main suspect, who has been in custody, to the location where the late Ayieko was abducted.
The Wells Fargo HR Manager went missing on Friday, October 21 and his handcuffed body was discovered a week later near a stream in Gem, Siaya County.
Ayieko's brother Aggrey Onyango struggled to come to terms with his demise, wondering why he had to undergo such pain.
"Who wanted my brother dead so much that he'd hire someone to kill him in this manner? My brother died a painful death," he revealed.
During an emotional funeral service held on Thursday afternoon at the All Saints' Cathedral, family and friends paid glowing tributes to a man they described as classy and generous.
His wife, Esther Wagumba, stated her husband had a huge impact on the lives of many and that his selfless nature was admirable.
"I will miss you. You made family and friends feel very welcome in our home. You were patient, kind, and very respectable," she narrated.
"Buying you a gift was a tall order...and especially clothing, so I stayed away from that...because your clothes were very expensive," she went on to reveal.
According to the family, Ayieko's body will be flown from Nairobi on Friday, November 8, ahead of his burial at his home at Central Alego location in Siaya County on Saturday, November 9.
