President William Ruto has made seven fresh appointments to different boards of government institutions.
In his new appointments Gazetted on Friday, November 15, Ruto has appointed Dr. Thuo Mathenge to the Chairperson of the Board of Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization for three years.
"IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by Section 6 (1) (a) of the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Act, 2013 as read together with Section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint— Thuo Mathenge (Dr)," read part of the notice.
"To be the Chairperson of the Board of Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization for three (3) years, with effect from the 15th of November, 2024," the notice continued.
Dr. Thuo has been appointed following the revocation of Peter Weru Kinyua. Thuo is a familiar face on the Kenyan political arena. Popularly known as wanguku, Thuo was an aspirant for the Nyeri gubernatorial seat in 2022.
The president has also appointed Dr Nuh Nassir Abdi to be the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Animal Genetic Resources Centre for the next three years, starting November 15, 2024.
Dr Nuh Nassir Abdi landed the position after the president revoked the appointment of Victor Kioko Munyaka.
Another who has been appointed by the President are Dr Wenwa Akinyi Oranga to be the Chairperson of the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute for the next three years.
Mark Kosgei Chesergon has been reappointed to chair the Board of Directors of the Kerio Valley Development Authority for another three years from November 15, 2024.
"IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by section 4 (1) (a) of the Kerio Valley Development Authority Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-chief of the Defence Forces, re-appoint— Mark Kosgei Chesergon to be the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kerio Valley Development Authority," the president announced.
Anab Mohamed Gure has been appointed to be a member of the Nairobi Rivers Commission, with effect from November 15, 2024, for a term of three years.
In the same appointments, President Ruto appointed former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero as Chairperson of the Kenya National Trading Corporation (KNTC).
