The government has announced a nationwide recruitment drive for overseas job opportunities that will begin on Wednesday, November 20.

Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua announced that the recruitment will begin at the Machakos Training Institute for the Blind. This exercise aims to link Kenyans with opportunities in foreign countries.

According to Mutua, the exercise is set to run across all 47 counties in Kenya, but the first phase will be done in 31 counties.

The CS invited those with necessary qualifications to visit recruitment stations in their respective home counties.

Additionally, the CS urged Kenyans to share information about the recruitment process to help attract as many participants as possible, as the government aims to address existing job gaps.

''If you are interested in any of the specified jobs and meet the qualifications, please plan to attend at the designated venue in your home county. Share the information with your family and friends,’’ Mutua announced.

Housekeeping, mechanics, electrical engineering, cargo handling, livestock foremanship, and construction works are among some of the jobs Kenyans have been assigned in the recruitment exercise.

Mutua’s announcement came just a few days after he revealed that the government would soon advertise new centres for exercise.

This is after the rollout of the first phase in Nairobi where 3,247 Kenyans were successful.

"During the first phase of the Qatar initiative, 3,247 Kenyans were selected out of the 8,000 available positions. I am pleased to report that nearly 1,500 of them have already received their offer letters and are finalizing their travel documentation," he stated.

According to the CS, the new phase of the recruitment process will involve key government agencies that will help the state through the shortlisting process.

“To ensure this recruitment drive is accessible to all, we are working closely with the National Employment Agency (NEA), the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA), and licensed recruitment agencies,” he said.
