The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced the shortlisting of candidates for government internship positions advertised in August this year.

PSC in a notice issued on Monday, November 18, announced that the interviews for the 6,673 shortlisted candidates would be conducted between Wednesday, November 20, and Friday, November 22, this year.

On August 13, the Commission advertised the recruitment of candidates for internship programmes for the 2024/2025 financial year. According to PSC, the programme was aimed at equipping graduates with essential work experience.

The recruitment drive targeted Cohort 7 applicants, promising a 12-month, non-renewable internship in various government ministries, departments, and agencies.

The Commission noted that the recruitment was meant for candidates who possessed a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university and graduated no earlier than 2018.

PSC also sought candidates with proficiency in Information Communication and Technology (ICT) skills. Applicants were urged to submit their documents online through the commission's job portal by September 2, 2024.

Following the successful recruitment, PSC in its Monday evening notice, directed applicants to check shortlisted candidates through the Public Service Commission website www.publicservice.go.ke.

In the announcement, the commission noted that the two-day interview would be conducted through mobile phone on the mentioned dates from 8.30 am.

“The Public Service Commission is pleased to inform all those who applied for Cohort 7 Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP) opportunities advertised on 13th August 2024,” PSC announced.

“The interviews for shortlisted candidates are scheduled to take place from Wednesday 20th to Friday, 22nd November 2024 starting at 8:30 am. The interviews will be conducted via telephone,” the commission added.

Shortlisted candidates were directed to come along with the original National Identity Card or an original Passport. The candidates were also told to avail their original academic and professional certificates.

The PSC internship programme which was launched in 2019 was initiated to bridge the gap between education and the workplace for graduates. The programme provides a monthly stipend of about Ksh25,000.
