Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni on Sunday, November 24, revealed details of an impending grand coalition that if implemented, would bring together political heavyweights not affiliated with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party or the Kenya Kwanza Government.

Speaking during a church service at the Jesus Teaching Ministry in Embakasi East, Kioni stated that the movement, led by former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, will bring in leaders like former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and Tranz Nzoia Governor George Natembeya.

“We follow Kalonzo because we know he has the ability and the vision to help Kenya. He has helped before and he will continue to help,” Kioni stated.

“We have mentioned the names of those we want in the grand coalition because we need to unseat Ruto. We have to come together as a group to remove him from office. We have to make sure it is a one-touch deal.”

He went on to explain that for the grand coalition to unseat President Ruto in one try, they needed to bring together powerful leaders with the capability of defeating him.

“So that it happens in one touch, we want to bring leaders like Matiang’i and Natembeya together to ensure Ruto goes home,” he added.

Decrying claims that the former cabinet secretary had a pending case in court, Kioni reiterated that the President also had a pending court at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Since cracks started showing up in the Azimio coalition following ODM Party leader Raila Odinga’s decision to cozy up with President Ruto, details of the grand coalition have been coming up from different sources.

When his party left the Azimio coalition, DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa also divulged details of this grand coalition albeit fronting himself as the presidential aspirant under the banner.

In his November 18 address, Wamalwa also named heavyweights being courted to join the movement including; Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Jubilee secretary general Jeremiah Kioni, and even the former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.

As details continue pouring in, it is imminent that the former vice president will be at the forefront, with Kioni even describing him as the leader of the opposition.

If successful in bringing the powerful leaders together, the dynamics in the political scene are set to shift, bringing together former opposition leaders and former ruling government officials, making the 2027 general elections the toughest yet.
