Labour Cabinet Secretary (CS) Alfred Mutua, on Sunday, November 24, took to social media to announce the kick-off of the nationwide foreign job recruitment drive in Rift Valley.
This follows a full week of successful recruitment exercises in Machakos, Makueni, and Kitui Counties.
The caravan will now move on to Nakuru County starting on Monday, November 24, at the Rift Valley National Polytechnic according to the latest update.
“We have secured over 1000 job opportunities for Nakuru residents in countries such as Australia, Qatar, Poland, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Germany, among others,” CS Mutua wrote on X.
The exercise will start at 8:00 am and will run up to 5:00 pm. Applicants will be served on a first-come first-served basis.
Subsequent venues will be at Baringo National Polytechnic on Tuesday and Nyandarua National Polytechnic on Wednesday.
In the statement, he advised the candidates to bring their national identification cards, relevant academic certificates, updated curriculum vitae (CV), and passports.
However, for candidates who do not own a passport yet, the CS promised that, if successful, the government would facilitate acquiring them.
Mutua further urged all Kenyans interested in the undertaking to avail themselves and take advantage of the opportunity as some of the jobs were hiring immediately.
“This is an incredible opportunity to secure a job abroad. For some positions, successful candidates could be flying out before Christmas and start earning an income immediately,” he advised.
The recruitment drive which is expected to take place in all 47 counties is part of President William Ruto’s plan to curb unemployment by labour export.
“This initiative is part of President William Ruto’s unwavering commitment to creating both local and international job opportunities for Kenyans. I am proud to be delivering on this promise, a key pillar of the President’s agenda for the nation,” Mutua wrote.
Although the exercise is set to run across all 47 counties in Kenya, the first phase will be done in 31 counties and some 3,247 applicants in Nairobi's recruitment a few weeks ago have already been successful.
