Former NTV reporter Eunice Omollo has landed a job at K24 TV. The good tidings were broken by a colleague close to Omollo whose identity is withheld.
The journalist who is battling a bipolar disease and was a patient at a mental facility is expected to start her new job on Monday, December 16.
“Some good news… Our sister and friend Eunice Omollo is reporting to work at K24 TV today,” the colleague shared.
It is, however, unclear what role she will be filling at the Mediamax-owned TV station.
Omollo was in the limelight in May this year appealing for help from Kenyans divulging that she had for a long time struggled with her bipolar condition.
Following the financial hardship, Omollo had faced imminent eviction. Similarly, she had shared that she urgently needed medicine to control the bipolar condition which she has been battling for over 19 years.
However, according to the source, Omollo is full of life and vigour as she embarks on a new chapter of her career.
“She is in high spirits. Indeed, the God of second chances has come through for her. Thanks to all for prayers and support,” the source stated.
During her struggle with the illness, it was discovered that Omollo had deactivated most of her social media accounts.
The celebrated and award-winning journalist is a former reporter for NTV who gained recognition for her work in health journalism.
Prior to facing health challenges, Omollo had emerged as the winner in the Africa Media Health Network Best TV and Health Reporting AFP Awards in 2021.
She was recognized for her reporting on issues related to mental health. However while in line with her work of covering the pandemic, she was close to a suicidal attempt, which she later disclosed to the public.
Her work was notable for its depth and sensitivity, particularly during challenging times such as the Covid-19 pandemic.
Omollo’s contributions to journalism have been significant, particularly in the realm of health reporting. However, her ongoing battle with bipolar disorder underscores the importance of mental health awareness and support systems.
