Police have arrested a woman alleged to have been involved in the murder of her 23-year-old ex-lover in Juja, Kiambu County.
The suspect is reported to have stabbed her ex-lover seven times at Mastore Estate in Juja before fleeing to evade arrest.
The body of the deceased was discovered on Monday, January 20, with multiple stab wounds.
Officers who responded to the scene and collected the body launched investigations, leading to the arrest of the suspect, a Ugandan national and former partner of the deceased.
During the arrest, traces of blood were found at the suspect's house. It is alleged that she had threatened the deceased several times before.
Area police commander Jackson Sang confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are ongoing to determine what led to the death of the 23-year-old.
"I want to confirm that one young man of 23 years, by the name Peter Macharia, was stabbed several times by a lady friend," he said.
The motive for the murder has not yet been established as detectives continue piecing together information to unravel the circumstances surrounding the cold-blooded killing.
"The lady stabbed the gentleman more than seven times, which is suspected to have caused his death," the police commander added.
Duncan Ndung'u, the victim's brother, was informed of Macharia's death by a close friend of the deceased. However, upon rushing to the scene, he found that his brother had already passed away.
Residents are now reeling in shock at the heinous murder saying the suspect had recently displayed strange behaviours which had raised alarm.
The suspect is currently in custody and awaiting further processing before being arraigned in court over charges of murder.
