The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has urged candidates who sat for the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) to collect their result slips from their respective schools.

The examination council, through a notice on Wednesday morning, revealed that it had dispatched the result slips to all the Sub-County Directors of Education (SCDE).

KNEC, while making the announcement, told schools that presented their candidates for the national examinations to pick the documents from their respective Sub-County Directors of Education.

“Important notice, the 2024 KCSE Examination Result Slips have been dispatched to all Sub-County Directors of Education (SCDEs) offices countrywide,” read part of the notice.

"Schools that presented candidates for the examination are advised to liaise with their SCDEs to collect the result slips,” the notice read further.

The candidates are expected to use the result slips during admission to various universities and colleges of their choice upon placement by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).

Result slips are commonly used as a substitute for examination certificates typically issued by KNEC at least 8 months after a candidate receives their KCSE results.

In 2024, a total of 962,512 candidates sat for the examinations, out of this, 246,391 candidates attained the university entry grade of C+ an improvement from the previous year when 201, 133 qualified for direct university entry.

While announcing the KCSE results at Mtihani House in Nairobi on January 9, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba stated that 1693 candidates obtained Grade A (plain) while the number of candidates who obtained Grades C- and D+ stood at 476889 and 605,774 respectively.

Ogamba also disclosed that examination results for 840 candidates were cancelled after investigations established that they were involved in exam irregularities. Similarly, KNEC also withheld the results of 2829 candidates pending scrutiny.

The latest KNEC announcement comes even as schools continue with the registration of KCSE and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) candidates for their November examinations.

The registration which began on January 27 is expected to end on February 28 with KNEC calling on school heads to ensure all candidates are accurately registered.
