President William Ruto has ordered a major crackdown on land grabbers across the country as part of the stringent measures to reduce large-scale displacement of people from their rightful property.

The Head of State who spoke in Kwale County on Tuesday afternoon directed security agencies in each county to crack the whip on all the fraudulent landowners.

Ruto, who issued 6,247 title deeds to residents of three Sub-Counties in Kwale, also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to securing land tenure for all Kenyans.

While directing the immediate arrest of all land grabbers, the Head of State emphasised that no Kenyan should be deprived of their rightful land.

"I warn those who take other people’s land, this will not be allowed. No Kenyan should be deprived of their rightful land. I call upon security agencies to act because land grabbing is unconstitutional," Ruto declared.

"We will not allow a few individuals to take other people's land through fraudulent means, there is nowhere the law allows an individual to invade another person's land so that the government can compensate them," he added.

His sentiments were echoed by Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome who reaffirmed her commitment to addressing historical land injustices across the country.

CS Wahome also commended the government’s approach to addressing perennial land-grabbing incidents in Kenya and ensuring fair land distribution.

"The issuance of these title deeds is a testament to our commitment to addressing historical land injustices and ensuring every Kenyan has a rightful claim to their land,” CS Wahome said.

“We are taking decisive steps to secure land tenure and empower communities for sustainable development." Said CS Wahome,” the CS added.

Meanwhile, during the event, Ruto also commissioned the Diani Affordable Housing Project, which he said will provide jobs and spur economic development in the region.

According to the president, the housing project aims to address the housing deficit while creating employment opportunities for the local youth.

“We want to ensure every Kenyan has access to affordable housing. I urge young people to take up the job opportunities created under this program," Ruto stated.
