All Nairobi County service providers found collecting, transporting and dumping waste in unauthorized areas will have their licenses revoked immediately, the county government has announced.

In an official statement dated Thursday,  March 27, the county's Chief Officer Environment, Geoffrey Mosiria, revealed that service providers who are dumping waste in unprecedented areas are endangering the county dwellers and going against the constitution.

The notice comes after the county found that some private service providers were illegally disposing of waste in undersigned areas, leading to environmental degradation in Nairobi City.

"Take notice, any service provider found dumping waste in unauthorized areas will have their license revoked immediately,  without their consent,'' Mosiria announced.

''The waste generator (source of waste) will also be held liable for engaging a service provider involved in illegal dumping and not licensed by the authority, " the notice signed by Mosiria added in part.

The notice comes after Mosiria conducted a crackdown along the Likoni Road Industrial area and impounded four service provider vehicles that have been illegally dumping waste in the area.

The authorities impounded those found breaking the authority and canceled their licenses immediately.

"Today, alongside our environment officers, we shut down an illegal dumping site that had been operating for a while along Likoni Road," Mosiria revealed.

"This is part of our ongoing efforts to eliminate all illegal dumping sites across Nairobi. We remain committed to ensuring full compliance, and no dumping will be allowed to continue in these areas," Mosiria continued.

This is part of the county's broader strategy to clean it and ensure that it remains clean and upholds its status as the nation's city.

The county has directed all city dwellers and service providers to dispose of wastes only on designated sites as approved by the county government.

"All waste collection service providers are reminded to strictly adhere to designated disposal sites to avoid legal consequences, " the notice concluded.
