Public Health Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni has urged President William Ruto to complete the projects that he had promised Embu County.

Speaking in Embu on Sunday, March 30, the PS said that the residents of Embu, who heckled the president in his previous visit to the county last year, should allow the president to deliver what he had started or promised them.

"We allow him to come to Embu County to complete the projects that he has already initiated and the ones he had promised the people, and that is the only thing we ask," she stated.

The PS who branded the president's upcoming visit to the region as a "blessing," noting that it was a shame that the residents of Embu County gave the president a rough welcome months ago.

"A visitor is like a river; he comes and goes, so why should we bother him? The citizens of Kenya want the delivery of services and not politics, so when the president comes to Embu, it is a blessing to us all," she stated.

President Ruto is expected to embark on his week-long Mount Kenya tour , after nearly six months on Tuesday, April 1.

During his trip, the president is expected to visit nine counties in the region, including Laikipia, Nyeri, Meru, Kirinyaga, Nyandarua, Murang’a, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, and Kiambu.

Ruto is expected to inspect, commission, and launch various development projects, such as road infrastructure, affordable housing, markets, electricity connectivity, and water projects, among others.

However, in recent weeks, Ruto's planned tour of the Mt Kenya region has been a centre of interest to political analysts who are weighing how he will be received in the region.

The debate is sparked mainly because it will be the first time Ruto will be visiting the region since the impeachment of his former Deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, in October last year.

Commenting on Ruto's upcoming tour, Gachagua, who has since been impeachment, made efforts to gain the political wheel of the region, cautioned residents of the region against believing the president's promises during his visit.

According to Gachagaua, senior government officials have laid out a plan to bribe the residents to cheer the president.

"Even now, he is preparing to visit this region with sacks of money. He is coming to lie, but I want to tell you to prepare and receive the money, but do not take it home,'' Gachagua stated.
