Nairobi Member of the County Assembly (MCA) representing Kariobangi North ward, Joel Munuve, has passed away.
Reports indicate that the vocal politician succumbed while undergoing treatment at a popular private hospital, which is located along Kiambu Road.
Sources further disclosed that the deceased had been rushed to the hospital after he collapsed while undertaking his normal duties at his ward office in Nairobi.
While confirming his demise, former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko expressed his condolences to the deceased's family and the entire Nairobi County fraternity.
"Kariobangi North MCA Joel Munuve has passed on. My sincere condolences to his family, the entire Nairobi County assembly, and Nairobi County government fraternities. May the Almighty God give you strength, comfort, and hope during this difficult period," read Sonko's statement.
Among those who also mourned the politician is Karen MCA Anthony Maragu, who termed him a selfless leader who served Kariobangi North with passion and humility.
While labelling him as a brother and a leader, Marangu disclosed that Munuve's political impact would live on in the hearts of many.
"Deeply saddened by the loss of my brother and colleague, Hon. Joel Manuve. A selfless leader who served Kariobangi North with passion and humility," Maragu commented.
He added, "His impact will live on in the hearts of many. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again. May his soul find eternal peace."
His demise comes barely a month after he made allegations against Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja about the Dishi na County feeding programme.
Addressing the press on March 21, the politician alleged that the Nairobi County government was losing billions through the controversial feeding scheme.
During his speech, the MCA pledged to collect signatures and rally for the impeachment of Governor Sakaja over what he termed as incompetence.
"We need to impeach the governor; we want a forensic audit to be done. What has he done with the money that he claims he collects every day? Because how can one person buy 17 vehicles?" Munuve alleged.
Meanwhile, Munuve joins the list of several politicians who have passed away since the year began.
