The national examination body has announced the recruitment of assessors for this year's Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) oral and practical tests.
Through a notice issued on Tuesday, June 10, the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) invited secondary school teachers and college tutors to apply for the opportunities in eight subjects over a 50-day application window.
“The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) wishes to recruit secondary school teachers/ college tutors as assessors for KCSE oral and practical papers between 10th June and 30th July 2025,” KNEC stated.
“The selected professionals will be trained on the job during assessment of the 2025 KCSE examination papers,” they added.
Applicants can find opportunities in power mechanics, electricity, aviation technology, French oral, German oral, Arabic oral, Kenyan Sign Language, Signing Practical, and Music practical.
KNEC elaborated on the application procedure that interested applicants had to follow to guarantee a successful application. To start with, applicants are required to apply through the official KNEC examiners’ portal and login through their KNEC Contracted Professional Portal (CP2) accounts.
“Those who have forgotten their CP2 passwords should click the Reset Password button and enter their mobile number in the format (2547********) and submit to get new passwords for logging into the portal,” KNEC stated.
For those without the CP2 account, they were urged to create new accounts and follow the set instructions to acquire new login credentials.
Upon successful login, applicants are to complete their profile and save. Thereafter, on the dashboard at the portal, applicants were advised to click on Apply for assessors’ vacancies.
After doing so, all the declared vacancies would be made available for the applicants to choose from. “The slots are limited and only qualified applicants who have presented all the required documents will be shortlisted for the exercise,” KNEC asserted.
At the same time, KNEC also disclosed eight requirements that interested persons would have to adhere to if they were to be shortlisted.
To qualify for recruitment, an applicant must be a practicing teacher/tutor in the relevant subjects. Also, he/she must be registered and/or employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) or a recognised professional body.
In addition, interested candidates are required to have a diploma (and above) in Education or the relevant area of specialisation. However, for assessors interested in aviation technology, the applicant must have a Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering.
Furthermore, candidates are required to have a minimum teaching experience of three years. Also, an interested candidate must not be under investigation or any other form of disciplinary action from the employer.
