The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has announced plans to train examiners for the October 2025 Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) examinations.

KNEC on Tuesday, July 1, said the training would be conducted between July and August this year, with shortlisted candidates expected to pay Ksh10,500 for the training.

The examination council went ahead to list conditions for training as a KJSEA examiner. According to KNEC, a person seeking to train as an examiner must first be a registered teacher.

They must also be employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and registered by the Public Service Commission (PSC). Similarly, they must have at least a Diploma in Education.

The applicant must also have a minimum teaching experience of three years and must not be under interdiction or facing any other form of disciplinary action from the TSC.

Additionally, the teacher must be recommended by their head of institution and must be 50 years of age or below with a minimum of three years of teaching experience.

According to KNEC, the training session would be done partly online and later physically in a residential venue that would be announced once the shortlisting is complete.

"The venue for the residential training will be communicated to the qualified trainees later, where the exercise will be strictly residential," KNEC announced.

"Qualified examiners will be engaged by KNEC to mark KJSEA using the criteria for recruitment of examiners based on the personnel needs for each paper," it added.

Application procedure

Those seeking to apply for the training as examiners were urged to access the KNEC portal: examinersapp.knec.ac.ke

According to KNEC, those with Contracted Professionals (CP2) accounts should log in using their user names and passwords.

ACP2 portal is a system that allows KNEC to manage its officers, including examiners, to ensure accountability.

Those who have forgotten their CP2 passwords were told to click on the Reset Password button and enter their mobile number in the format (2547********) and submit to get new passwords for logging into the system.

Applicants without CP2 accounts should click on ‘Create Account’ and follow the instructions to acquire login credentials to access the system.

Upon successful login, the applicants will then complete their profiles and save.
