Kenya Met Lists Nairobi, Mombasa Among Regions to Receive Rains for Next Five Days

The Kenya  Meteorological Department has urged Kenyans in several regions to brace for continued rain, cold, and windy conditions that are expected to prevail this week.

In its latest forecast for the week, the weatherman said that Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and North-Western Kenya will receive continued rain this week.

Furthermore, the coast region is expected to be hit by strong southerly to south-easterly winds with speeds exceeding 25 knots (12.86 m/s) during this period.

Residents in Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi counties are expected to experience sunny intervals during the morning for most of the week, apart from Friday and Saturday, when morning rains are expected to hit some of the places.

These areas will most likely receive showers over a few places during the afternoons and nights throughout the week.
The maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to be 26°C, while the minimum temperature will be 26°C

Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta counties, as well as the inland parts of Tana River County, are expected to receive daylong sunny conditions and cloudy conditions during the night this week.

According to the weatherman, the maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to be 31°C, while the minimum temperature will be 12°C.

Showers at the coast

Residents of Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale counties, as well as Tana River County, on the other hand,  are set to experience showers over a few places for most of the week apart from Tuesday morning, Thursday morning and afternoon, Friday, and Saturday afternoon when it is expected to be sunny.

These counties are expected to experience a maximum temperature of 30°C and a minimum temperature of  21°C.

Daylong rains accompanied by thunderstorms are expected to hit Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot counties for the next five days.

The maximum temperatures during this period are expected to be 30°C, while the minimum temperatures will be 10°C, according to the weatherman.

Turkana and Samburu counties are expected to experience rains and showers during the day and night, throughout the week, according to the department.

Residents of these counties are expected to experience maximum temperatures of 35°C and minimum temperatures of 11°C.

Lastly, Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties are expected to receive daylong sunny conditions and cloudy conditions during the night, with a maximum temperature of 36°C and a minimum temperature of 14°C.
