The crash caused heavy traffic congestion, forcing authorities to redirect vehicles through the Njoro interchange to ease the snarl-up.

In a separate incident in Busia County, a Form Three student from Father Okodoi Secondary School died after being hit by a trailer while walking to school alongside a male classmate at Lukolis Market in Teso South.

According to witnesses, a trailer lost control and veered off the road, hitting the students. The tragic accident left the female student dead, while the injured male student was rushed to the hospital.

The tragedy triggered protests from irate residents who set the trailer ablaze, accusing the driver of reckless driving. Police officers were dispatched to restore calm and launched investigations into the incident.

On March 14, at least 12 people lost their lives in a tragic road accident at the Migaa area along the Nakuru–Eldoret Highway.

The crash had occurred around 2am when a trailer transporting coffee seeds lost control and collided head-on with a 14-seater matatu carrying 11 passengers.

Preliminary reports indicated that the trailer suffered brake failure while approaching the notorious black spot, causing it to veer into the oncoming lane.
