Tiaty Member of Parliament William Kamket claims that leaders and supporters of the Kenya Kwanza Administration will ensure that President William Ruto bags a second term, even if it means "adding votes."
According to the lawmaker, he and the Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, will not back down in making such claims and castigating those who slam President Ruto's administration, ahead of the 2027 general polls.
"I don't have so much to say, but given the fact that we are Kapseret, I believe everyone year says two terms. So there is no need to preach to the converted, I would only like to urge you to continue supporting President Ruto's administration," Kamket said.
"Sometimes, MP Sudi and I are harsh, and I always hear him say that we are going to add votes, and I'm also saying the same thing, if the votes are not enough, we will ensure that they are enough, whatever comes may," he added.
Furthermore, the MP claimed that those who still have faith in the President's leadership should be at the vanguard of protecting him and not letting any individual convince them otherwise.
The MP said this as he was giving his speech during the dowry ceremony for the children of the Immigration Principal Secretary, Belio Kipsang, and billionaire David Langat on Saturday, August 3.
The statement comes days after the Wajir Woman Rep, Fatuma Jeho, also claimed that "we will steal votes" in the upcoming elections.
"I don't have much to say, but just two terms. We are just waiting for the 2027 general polls, and even if there will be no votes, we will steal, and that is not a secret," the Woman Rep claims.
In response to her statement, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) castigated the remarks and termed them as reckless and unacceptable.
According to IEBC, Kenyans should ignore such claims and trust the commission in overseeing a free and fair verifiable election.
On the other hand, the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, warned leaders from making such statements, stressing that they could potentially undermine the integrity of the commission.
"Let us stop undermining the integrity of the IEBC, and the work of the president is not stealing votes, he will look for votes legally, so leaders making such claims should stop," Mudavadi claimed.
