Nairobi, Kiambu and Nakuru to Experience Rain and Chilly Conditions This Week - Kenya Met

The Kenya Meteorological Department has urged Kenyans in several regions to brace for more rain, chilly conditions, and strong winds in the next five days.

In its weekly forecast, the department noted that rainfall is expected to continue in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley, between Tuesday, August 26, and Saturday, August 30.

On the other hand, some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-Eastern lowlands, and the Rift Valley will experience cloudy and chilly conditions during this period.

The department has further alerted that strong south-easterly winds with speeds exceeding 25 knots are expected to hit the coast of the South Eastern lowlands, North Eastern, and North Western Kenya.

According to the weatherman, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nairobi counties are likely to experience sunny conditions in the mornings throughout the week.

In the afternoons, showers over a few places are expected until Thursday, with Friday and Saturday afternoons forecast to be sunny. Cloudy conditions are expected to prevail in these areas at night throughout the week.

The department indicated that maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to reach 26°C, while minimum temperatures will drop to 7°C.

Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot counties are expected to receive rain during the day and night until Saturday.

In these regions, maximum temperatures are forecast at 27°C, with minimums at 10°C.

Sunny intervals are set to prevail in Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale counties, as well as Tana River County, with cloudy conditions expected at night.

Maximum temperatures in these counties are predicted to be 30°C, while minimums will be around 20°C.

Daylong sunny conditions are expected in Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta counties, as well as the inland parts of Tana River County, throughout the week. Cloudy conditions are likely at night during this period.

Maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to be 31°C, with minimums of 11°C.

Turkana and Samburu counties are forecast to receive showers accompanied by thunderstorms both during the day and night until Saturday. Residents in these areas will experience maximum temperatures of 32°C and minimums of 11°C.

Daylong sunny conditions are expected in Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo counties over the next five days, while cloudy conditions will prevail at night. According to the weatherman, maximum temperatures in these areas will reach 36°C, while minimums will be 14°C.
