According to video and photos obtained by Kenyans.co.ke, the accident involved two vehicles, a personal vehicle and a truck.
Residents and motorists could be seen desperately trying to rescue the vehicles' passengers by cutting through the wreckage with axes.
The two vehicles were extensively damaged in the accident, particularly at the front, and first responders had to use a lorry to separate them.
The exact number of passengers in the two vehicles is yet to be determined.
