Nairobi, Mombasa , Kisumu Among Regions to Experience Rains This Week - Kenya Met

The Kenya Meteorological Department has urged Kenyans in several regions to brace for more rain, chilly conditions, and strong winds in the next five days.

In its weekly forecast, the weatherman said that rainfall is expected to continue in Nairobi, Kiambu, Kisumu, Eldoret, Nakuru, Naivasha, and Mombasa between Tuesday, September 16, and Saturday, September 20.
 
Additionally, strong southerly to south-easterly winds with speeds exceeding 25 knots are expected over the Coast and other towns, including Machakos, Kitui, Lodwar, and Kitui, during the forecasted period.

"Most parts of the country are likely to be sunny and dry. Rainfall is expected in some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and the Coast," Kenya met stated.

According to the weather forecast, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi counties are expected to experience sunny conditions in the mornings throughout the week.

In the afternoons, showers are expected in a few places until Thursday, with sunny afternoons forecast for Friday and Saturday. Cloudy conditions are expected to prevail in these areas at night throughout the week.

The department indicated that maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to reach 26°C, while minimum temperatures will drop to 7°C.

Kisumu, Kisii, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot counties are expected to receive rain during the day and night until Saturday.

 In these regions, the maximum temperatures are expected to hit 27°C, with minimums at 10°C, according to the weatherman.

Sunny intervals are set to prevail in Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale counties, as well as Tana River County, with cloudy conditions expected at night. Maximum temperatures in these counties are predicted to be 30°C, while minimums will be around 20°C.

Daylong sunny conditions are expected in Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta counties, as well as the inland parts of Tana River County, throughout the week. Cloudy conditions are likely at night during this period. Maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to be 31°C, with minimums of 11°C.

Turkana and Samburu counties are forecast to receive showers accompanied by thunderstorms both during the day and night until Saturday. Residents in these areas will experience maximum temperatures of 32°C and minimums of 11°C.

Daylong sunny conditions are expected in Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties over the next five days, while cloudy conditions will prevail at night. According to the weatherman, maximum temperatures in these areas will reach 36°C, while minimums will be 14°C.
