A family from Nairobi's Dagoretti area has appealed for help after their 13-year-old daughter went missing at a popular mall in Karen area.

According to the family, the girl went missing after she went out to meet friends at the mall on September 7, 2025.

The mall's CCTV footage captured the last moments the girl was seen. She had entered the mall in the company of another girl and a young man.

In the footage, the girl can be seen walking around with the other girl and young man before they are joined by two more young men.

She is captured having a short conversation with the young man she had been walking around with before the other group joins them.

After a few minutes, she can be seen walking out of the mall beside the same young man. That was the last time she was seen.

Following her disappearance, the family reported the incident at Karen Police Station. However, they said that there has been no significant progress in the case.

The girl's mother begged those who have her daughter to return her, and said that they had carried out a search and that strangers had even reached out to them, pretending to know her daughter's whereabouts.

"Those young men who took my child should just bring her back, please, because that child is supposed to be in school. I am hurting so much as a parent. I have searched for her, but I haven't made any progress,” the mother said.

She revealed that she had received calls from an unknown caller claiming to have rescued her daughter.

One man called the family, claiming to be a senior police officer, and tried to convince them that he would reunite them with their daughter.

“He called us and said he was the OCPD and we should send money so that the girl could be brought to Kabete Police Station, but it was a lie,” she added.
