Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba announced that only 418 cases of malpractice were recorded in the just-concluded KCSE examinations, a sharp reduction from 600 cases last year on November 22 2025.
Speaking in Kisii County during the 11th anniversary of Gospel Embassy Chapel, Ogamba said the drop is proof that tighter supervision and reforms are working.
“This year we had 3.4 million learners who undertook the examinations, and out of this, the government only registered 418 instances,” he stated.
Ogamba’s remarks come just a day after the KCSE exams concluded, with the ministry keen to reassure Kenyans that exam integrity is being safeguarded.
The event was attended by President William Ruto, who was praised by Ogamba for supporting the education sector through teacher recruitment, curriculum reforms, and resolving strikes involving KUPPET, KNUT, and UASU.
The CS also thanked President Ruto for developments in the Kisii region, including the construction of Nyamira University College at Kiabonyoru set to enroll students next year.
Ogamba assured parents that the government is fully in control of the Grade 10 transition, promising that no learner, parent, or teacher will be left anxious.
He added that by January next year, if new challenges arise, the government will be ready to address them.
South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro was among the leaders present at the event.
CS Ogamba concluded by stating that the announcement is expected to boost confidence among parents and learners, especially after years of concerns over widespread cheating.
