Harrison Kombe, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate for the Member of Parliament in Magarini, has alleged that his agents were barred from accessing polling stations during the ongoing by-elections.
Speaking at Mjanaheri Primary School on November 27, 2025, Kombe stated that he had not been given any official explanation regarding this exclusion of his agents from accessing the polling station, yet the ODM Party’s agents had access.
He stressed there is enough room to accommodate both sets of agents, suggesting there must be an underlying motive. He issued a firm warning, saying he will flash them out if he finds an agenda he is not ready for.
Kombe has questioned the transparency of the current electoral exercise following the incident at Mjanaheri Primary School. He voiced concerns that the by-elections could potentially be rigged, citing the denial of access to agents as suspicious.
The candidate expressed a total lack of confidence in the process, noting that the individual who selected the Party’s agents is someone he believes is working against him.
Kombe announced he would be traveling to some of the 193 polling stations in Magarini, to personally confirm his agents' presence and monitor the electoral process.
Before the election, allegations of potential interference had surfaced from various parties. DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua claimed that IEBC Vice Chairperson Fahima Araphat Abdallah was involved in efforts to influence the outcome.
The Commissioner, Dr. Alutalala Mukhwana, while in Magarini, dismissed reports of impending violence or insecurity, noting that all procedures had been followed and that the by-election would proceed under the oversight of accredited observers and party agents.
"I’ve been here in Magarini, and we have not encountered a single instance of insecurity. However, should there be any cases, we have taken adequate steps; we have enough security deployed." She stated.
Voting is set to continue until the polls close, with the IEBC expected to announce results thereafter. The commission has deployed security personnel across the constituency and emphasized that the exercise will adhere to electoral laws.
