Prominent Kenyans Who Have Made News For Their Domestic Problems

For a while, Machakos senator Johnson Muthama and Agnes Kavindu have washed their dirty linen in public exposing a rocky marriage that ended in divorce with dowry being refunded.

In 2014, Kavindu sought help from Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) after Muthama allegedly evicted her from her house, taking away all items in the house.

2. Moses Wetangula

National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principal Moses Wetangula was the subject of discussion when he reported to police that he had allegedly been battered by his wife Anne Wetangula. Interestingly, Mrs Wetangula also made a report to police claiming she had been assaulted by the Bungoma Senator.

3. Raphael Tuju

Former Foreign affairs Minister and Jubilee party Secretary General Raphael Tuju treated the public to drama in a messy divorce case. Tuju accused his wife of 27 years, Ruth Akinyi of engaging in extra-marital affairs with one of his security officers.

The security officer, Anthony Agunda, who featured in the scandal died a controversial death shortly afterward while  Akinyi was reported to be struggling to survive after the messy divorce.

4. Philip Moi

The Moi family has not been left behind in washing dirty linen in public. Rossana Pluda went to court demanding huge sums of money from Philip Moi after their marriage hit the rocks.

In 2012, Moi was ordered to pay a monthly upkeep allowance of Sh500,000 for upkeep and child maintenance.

5. Alfred Mutua

Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua and his estranged wife Josephine Thitu Maundu treated the public to drama when they moved to court to settle their domestic issues.

Shortly after being elected governor, Mutua unveiled a younger Lilian Ng'ang'a as the first lady, bringing his failed first marriage to the public.

At the centre of the dispute was a multi-million estate and three children.
