Raila Odinga Urges NASA Supporters not to Vote for Independent Candidate

The National Super Alliance (NASA) flag-bearer Raila Odinga has called on his supporters to reject aspirants seeking elective seats as Independent candidates.

Speaking in Rarieda, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader stated that NASA supporters should only vote for candidates drawn from affiliate parties in the coming August 8th polls.

“The NASA coalition has five parties, ODM, Ford Kenya, ANC, Chama cha Mashinani and Wiper whose candidates should be considered in the coming general election to boost my bid,” noted Odinga.

Odinga cautioned NASA supporters not to be hoodwinked by independent candidates who were claiming to back his candidature for the presidency but were only interested in satisfying their own selfish interest.

“I have constantly urged them to adhere to the wishes of the people but they have insisted on running as independent, let them not deceive you using my name to satisfy their selfish interest,” warned Odinga.

He reiterated that the candidates who were vying for seats under the NASA umbrella were the only ones who would implement the coalition's manifesto and bring out the much-needed change in the country.

Odinga highlighted that the candidates did not share the ideals, aspirations and philosophy of the NASA coalition.

This, he said would boost his presidency in a grand plan to amass 25 percent of elected leaders in the 47 counties.

The former premier was speaking in Rarieda during the funeral service of the late Gladys Amollo mother to Rarieda ODM parliamentary candidate Otiende Amollo and nominated senator Elizabeth Ongoro.
