Trans Nzoia County Governor Patrick Khaemba is in mourning after losing his mother Petronila Nanjala, who died at 85 years old.
The late Mama Petronila died at her Birunda home in Kitale after a long battle with high blood pressure.
Western Kenya leaders led by Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula, Members of Parliament Eseli Simiyu (Tongaren), Chris Wamalwa (Kiminini) visited Khaemba's home where Mr Wamalwa in a statement condoled with the family and asked for God's comfort during the tough times.
"On behalf of the great people of Kiminini, I send my heartfelt condolences to the family of Khaemba for the loss of his dear mum.
"May the almighty God grant you strength and comfort at this difficult time," the statement read in part.
Governor Khaemba's brother Justine Khaemba stated that the body had since been taken to Eldoret hospital mortuary.
