Kenyans woke up to news of two major tragedies that had occurred on Friday morning.

The heart-breaking news sparked discussions on Twitter causing the various subjects to top the trends.

Infil Academy in Komarock

Friday morning saw the dormitory of a private primary school in Nairobi's Komarock Estate go up in flames in a tragic incident where a five-year-old child was the only casualty.

Kenyans on social media expressed sorrow at the unfortunate event condoling with the family of the child who perished as the mother, who is the school matron, rescued other children.

Social media users also reacted in anger seeking to understand why such a young child had been enrolled in a boarding school facility. Here are some of the tweets that featured in the discussions.

Ahero 

A second tragic event occurred in Ahero, Kisumu causing the topic to trend on Twitter.

The morning accident involved a 14-seater matatu that rolled seven times resulting in the death of three people who were allegedly travelling from Kisii to attend a graduation ceremony in Bondo.

#IAmForPeace

The hashtag was initiated by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) which engaged Kenyans on social media to vouch for peaceful, free, fair and credible elections come August 8.

The body was concurrently launching the Election Monitoring Programme at the Hilton Hotel on the same day.

The hashtag was used by Kenyans on social media to bash the Housing Finance Group (HFG) boss Frank Ireri after he and the Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), Patrick Njoroge, were named in a Sh45 Million scandal.

The hashtag trended as Cooperative Bank of Kenya held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the year.

The Bank recorded a remarkable profit margin in the first quarter of the year, good news for those who were in attendance.

Manhunt for 2

The topic trended after news reports indicated that police were looking for two suspected carjackers in Nakuru.

The police shot the third suspect and recovered a vehicle that was stolen on Thursday.
